Terms and conditions
Nine short clauses covering how this site works, how a job is priced and paid, and what we will and will not stand behind.
Current as of October 2026.
1. What this site is
Austin Garage Door Tech is a booking and marketing site for garage door repair and installation across Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Leander, Dripping Springs and Bastrop, Texas. Using the site or calling the number on it means you accept these clauses. The work itself is done by independent technicians who take jobs through us; our referral marketing disclosure explains that arrangement.
2. The figures on the site are budgets, not bids
Every dollar range on a service or guide page is a 2026 planning range for the Austin area. It is not an offer. The price you pay for a repair is the one the technician states on your driveway before any tool comes off the van; the price for a new door or opener is the written estimate you are given, and that estimate is only a contract once you accept it.
3. Who turns up
Technicians booked through this site run their own businesses. Texas has no state licence for garage door repair, and a technician who fits only an opener, a keypad and remotes does not need a Texas DPS licence unless the opener is tied into an alarm system or keeps a log of who comes and goes. We do not vouch for any technician's insurance; you are entitled to ask for a certificate before the work starts, and the technicians expect the question.
4. Permits and other trades
City of Austin Development Services treats replacing or installing an overhead garage door on a one- or two-family home as work that needs no building permit. Repairs and opener installs are not listed either way, so if you are unsure about your job, ask the City before it starts; outside the city limits, ask the building office for your town. A new hard-wired outlet for an opener is electrical work and belongs to a licensed electrician, not a garage door technician.
5. Paying
Repairs are paid when they are finished, by card, check or transfer to the technician. A custom-ordered door may call for a deposit, and if it does, the amount is written on the estimate before you sign anything; the rest is due on completion.
6. Springs can hurt you
A torsion spring stores enough energy to break a wrist, and a cable under load does the same. Nothing on this site is an instruction for adjusting, winding, removing or replacing springs, cables or drums, and we take no responsibility for what happens when someone tries.
7. The writing is general
Pages here describe garage doors and the rules that apply to them in the Austin area in plain terms. None of it is an inspection of your door, legal advice or a permit ruling for your address. Codes, fees and city policies move; the current documents from the City, the county and the state are what count.
8. Warranties
Any warranty on parts or labour is the one written into the agreement you sign with the technician, plus whatever the part's maker offers on its own terms. We do not add a warranty of our own on top.
